Respite Care

At Golden Living at Home LLC we care about caregivers. Keep in mind that caregiver burnout is real and taking the necessary steps to prevent it is not selfish. Rather, it will benefit the person you care for by allowing you to be a relaxed and effective caregiver.

Call Golden Living at Home LLC today at 703-218-1841 to discuss how we can help by providing home care services for a few hours--or a few days. If you desire, we will work with a local travel planning expert to arrange a "Caregiver's Night Out" which can include dinner reservations and/or tickets to a local event--all tailored specifically to your preferences. Or give this all-inclusive package as a wonderful gift for a family caregiver.

No weekly services contract is required. Respite care services are billed hourly at the rate of $39 per hour including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Fee for optional Caregiver's Night Out planning and cost of events and/or travel is not included.

Caregiver Burnout

Being a caregiver to a loved one can be difficult. Often it adds another set of responsibilities to those you already have such as your job, your spouse and children, or your home. In addition, the nature of your relationship with the person needing care is changing. Many caregivers eventually find themselves unable to cope with the rising levels of stress in their life, resulting in “burnout,” which can include depression, anxiety and even physical ailments that threaten their health.

It’s important to know the signs of caregiver burnout and take action right away. While the most obvious sign of caregiver burnout is increased stress and anxiety, some of the other common warning signs are:
  • You have much less energy than you used to and may experience changes in weight, appetite or both,
  • You get sick more often,
  • You experience changes in sleeping patterns and may feeling exhausted, even after sleeping or taking a break,
  • You neglect your own needs, no longer participate in activities you one enjoyed, or withdraw from family and friends,
  • Your life revolves around caregiving, but you no longer derive satisfaction from it,
  • You have trouble relaxing or are unable to delegate tasks even when help is available,
  • You lack concentration,
  • You get upset more quickly than normal, even with the person you’re caring for, or
  • You feel overwhelmed, blue, irritable, anxious, helpless, or hopeless.
A primary component in a strategy for preventing caregiver burnout is: Don’t try to do it all alone. Recognizing your human limitations and asking for necessary help will prevent burnout and assure that you are able to provide the best possible care for your loved one.
