FAQS About Our Home Care Services

What does it mean to "age in place"?
This term is used when a senior opts to remain in their own home or the home of a family member as they age, often in lieu of moving to an assisted living facility or nursing home. Aging in place can frequently reduce long-term care costs when compared to residential care facilities while allowing the senior to remain in the comfort of familiar surroundings. Golden Living at Home LLC is committed to helping seniors age in place for as long as it is practical to do so.

How do the costs for in-home care services compare?
Choosing to use the services of Golden Living at Home LLC can be significantly less expensive than other care arrangements. For example, the average cost of home care service is about one-third of that charged by an assisted living facility and less than one-quarter of what a skilled care facility charges.

I'm the primary caregiver for my elderly father who lives with us, but sometimes I just need a break. Can you help me?
We know that providing good care to others means taking good care of yourself, so we provide respite services to give family caregivers such as yourself the time they need to rest and recharge. We are available for a few hours or a few days, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

What if I need to change my home care service schedule?
A primary advantage of home care from Golden Living at Home LLC is that charges are not incurred on a 24 hour basis, unlike a residential care facility. We recognize that needs may change over time, so we will happily increase or decrease the hours of home care services to meet your current needs. For example, services can be increased during a time of illness or when recovering from surgery.

Can I meet with the Home Care Coordinator in the evening or on the weekend?
We are happy to schedule your FREE, no obligation initial home care assessment outside of traditional working hours.

Can someone stay with me over night or on the weekend?
Golden Living at Home LLC
provides in-home care services whenever you need them. For as few as four hours per week to full-time, around the clock home care service, we are available to provide the level of home care support you need.

Do I have to pay the Home Caregiver that visits?
Golden Living at Home LLC does not use subcontractors. All our home caregivers are employees of Golden Living at Home LLC. We pay the home caregivers (including overtime pay) and take care of all applicable local, state, and federal taxes and insurance.

My parents live in Northern Virginia, but I live in California. Can you help?
At Golden Living At Home LLC we specialize in supporting the senior loved ones of out-of-state families. In addition to our care services for seniors themselves, we will arrange and oversee home repairs, appliance replacement, and other large tasks to make sure seniors always get the best value for their home maintenance dollar.

Do you provide services to seniors in assisted living facilities or nursing homes?
Yes, all our services are available to seniors wherever they call home.

What is caregiver burnout?
The demands of providing care to a loved one together with the confusion in roles and responsibilities that may come as the adult child must provide care to the parent can be overwhelming. Caregiver burnout refers to the physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion the may result and can occur when a caregiver (frequently a family member) doesn’t have access to the help and support they need or have unrealistic expectations regarding the amount or type of care they can provide alone. Golden Living at Home LLC can provide caregivers with a few hours--or a few days--off to rest and recharge. Please don't hesitate to contact us to for more information on this important topic.
